The Black School & Muse 360

The Black School and Muse 360 brought their youth together for a Behind the Seams workshop at Kith HQ. We hosted 22 student mixed media artists, photographers, curators and designers ages 18 to 25, eager to explore careers in fashion design, understand how fashion functions within a corporate setting, and build meaningful connections.

The Black School and Muse 360 share a commitment to African diasporic, community-based education that uplifts Black and BIPOC individuals through art, culture, and self-determination. This trip included participants from TBS's Design Activism Apprenticeship and Muse 360's New Generation Scholars-rigorous programs led by Black artists and organizers. TBS graduates often join its youth-staffed design firm, advancing economic and social justice in their communities.

During the workshop, students engaged with Tina and Brent from Graphic Design, as well as So Jung from Women's Apparel Design, where they learned about each person's unique career journey, gained insight into their day-to-day work, and had the opportunity to view their past creative projects.

This experience served as a powerful reminder of the importance of access, representation, and community in shaping the next generation of creative leaders.
