Since 2022, we've hosted an annual back to school event in Brooklyn, NY. This year, we were able to bring this experience to two additional cities; Los Angeles and Miami.
For the third year in a row, we partnered with Children of Promise (“CoP”) in Brooklyn, NY to provide an eventful day for their Brooklyn and Bronx members. 250 students received backpacks and grade specific school supplies for the new school year. The students were also able to engage in the different activities throughout the day. This included face painters, photobooths and several games hosted by the CoP staff.
In Los Angeles, California we partnered with The Keturah Hamilton Foundation and The Ceola Marie Foundation, in order to bring joy and excitement to K-12th graders for the new school year. We were able to provide 250 backpacks and grade specific school supplies to the students in attendance. Attendees were also able to enjoy the activities, food and music at the event.
In Miami, Kith staff we worked with Lotus House Women’s Shetlter and Overtown Youth & Children Coalition to host a similar event. Along with the 150 backpacks and school supplies provided at the event, students were also able to receive free haircuts from the Motion Haircuts. This not only brought joy and confidence to the students, but the parents were also extremely delighted.
These children come from disadvantaged communities where even basic school supplies, which are often taken for granted by others, are a significant challenge for them to obtain. It was a pleasure to host a complete “Back to School Celebration” event at each location with the help of New Balance. The bouncy houses, face painters, games, DJs, food, beverages and even the dunk tankwere were a complete joy to the children! Through this initiative, we not only equipped these students for the upcoming school year but also made a broader impact by creating a fun and enriching community experience.
